I just went for a mooch in the freezer to see what I could get out for dinner and I've come up with surf & turf (pork belly with lobster tails). The lobster tails are normally £11 a pair but they were being cleared out at £1.99 for a pack of two so I grabbed 4 packs. I'll serve up with some buttery vegetables but I'm stuck on what to do for a sauce ... suggestions appreciated.

When was the last time you had a very pleasing bargain?

And what's cooking at yours today?

Not a foodie bargain but yesterday I bought a pair of bootee type slippers for £4.00, reduced from £16.00. I needed a new pair so I was really pleased.

Nice one, Tilly. I love clothes shopping for bargains.
I think frozen steak and kidney puddings from Tesco are a bargain. I can't remember the exact price, but buying 3 packs of 4 puds works out at about 30p per pud. Perfect for cooking for the staff where I work.
bread sauce - it goes with everything

Not bad, Clo-Jo. Do they do just steak or steak and mushroom?
Obviously money well spent for you, Islay.
Not sure NoM. I haven't noticed steak and mushroom, but the freezers there are still mostly empty after shoppers expecting the apocalypse cleaned them out before the snow last week.
I can beat that though.

I got 4 top quality butter scones at Sainsbugs the other day, yellow labelled down to 25p. Scrummy.
The blackberries we picked last summer. We've eaten loads but have still got a couple of kilos left in the freezer.
I need a bigger freezer :0(
It was. A decision I wish I had made 10 years ago, things may have been so different.
No point in looking back. Its done now .
Yes, much more to look forward to. I must have spent nearly that much on getting teeth implanted; I don't look any healthier but I can eat. So I guess that's a bargain of sorts. Old elephants just die when their last set of teeth wears out.

Have you got anywhere you can put a chest freezer, Minty? We've got one down in the cellar and it's invaluable.
I think for bargains Islay, there's no money price on saving your life, best bargain ever, I know you're not looking back but looking forward, well done again xx
no room nom... my problem is freezers, like handbags, will never be big enough for me ! lol
A few minor bargains lately - a set of microwave pans that seemed so reasonable thought they'd they be low quality but are great.

Then two throws reduced so low I couldn't resist and they are the nicest, softest ones I've ever bought.

Nothing can match a life changing bargain like Islay's for sure.
