Unfortunately I have a low fat tolerance, this makes a lot of the popular low carb plans impossible. I like cheese but will switch it to a few gratings of parmesan, or very very strong cheddar and I won't use it for sandwiches or as the main protein in a meal. If I cut it out completely I will only end up binging on it at some point. Again it's part of the balancing act. I do however use ultra low fat cheese spread as a butter substitute on toast. And a low carb virtually fat free peanut butter powder that you mix with water to make a paste. It's good with marmite mixed in too.
No I would as my diet is so limited I eat cheese every day
60 posts since I asked if anyone would join me in a dry January & still no takers, ah well, I shall go it alone as always.

Weight btw is not a problem for me, I'm more of a 'drinkie' than a foodie. I have some old working trousers that I can wear comfortably, which must be 40 years old.

Good luck with shedding the pounds though.

The NHS dietician that I saw, told me the thing about using the strongest flavoured cheeses to get the 'hit with a much smaller amount. and it does work for me, I can reduce my cheese intake drastically.

Sorry Khandro, I will do dry January, I never drink in the early stages of trying to lose weight as for me drinking alcohol makes me want snacks. I will probably be dry February and March too....
I don’t have much to drink so it’s not much of a hardship tbh, currently have 1 or 2 cocktails a week
I also eat cheese every day. I'd read a while back that certain cheeses...blue/soft...could affect joints and arthritis symptoms. So I cut them out and just had parmesan and cheddar. I'm not sure it made a difference. I've got a load of soft cheese in the fridge now, which I may finish and not replenish until I've lost the stomach podge.

I might join in again. I did join in sometimes with the last one but other things in my life took over and I couldn't stick to any plan.

I also have small amounts of strong cheese crumbled or grated in salads. I enjoy the flavour. Stilton is my preference

As I put in the OP do what works for you, most older people have tried a number of methods, Minty does her slimfast, others do intermittent fasting, low carb, high fibre, or whatever suits then. Can I suggest weigh in Mondays that will give folk all of next week to get organised. No actual weights unless you want to, just an amount down (or up if you have had a bad week) or stay the same. Keep your own running total. Good luck everyone.

One good tip I know for you foodies is to drink a couple of glasses of water before you start a meal, this gives an already feeling of fullness.
I always imagine Naomi to be quite a disciplined person.

It's why I said people must do what works for them. For some it may be just the discipline of a weekly weigh in stops them putting on more weight, for some it Might be knowing there are others doing the same thing, or who are getting bored and need ideas.... We have a huge store of knowledge and experience between us.
