Do you think there will be another lockdown this winter. I am in Scotland. I will be devastated if there is. I have organised a 50th Birthday party for myself early January. I see so many people not wearing masks on public transport or shops and a lot of unvaccinated people. It really infuriates me. I will have had booster by this time tomorrow

How can you tell unvaccinated from vaccinated by looking at them and in any case it doesn't stop people being infected or passing it on, so get infuriated by that either.
Scotland has far more restrictions than England as wee Jimmy seems to love controlling people so there may well be one in Scotland. Why not have it in England?

I never hear of doctors or nurses not wearing them and tellling there bosses thee a waste of time.
Why would Whitty, Van tam etc lie about it. Why were masks used in USa for flu 100 years ago. Why do Far East wear them regularly. Why in Spain Cyprus etc does everyone comply father than poitnting to unreliable evidence or just being 'look at me '/bolshy. Even if there only 50% effective or 30% effective its worth it.

You obviously haven't bothered to read the article, it is precisely its point that the predictions were wrong, & the Swedish stats are better then those of many other countries.

Interestingly, although the PM is talking up the risks, some scientific opinion advises that we are actually ahead of the curve as far as the rest of Europe is concerned: according to them, they are experiencing the increases we have already had, plus our vaccination rates are higher (now because of a lack of take-up abroad rather than because their programmes are lagging any more).
The other issue is will other "variants of concern" arise from the rise on cases and again the general opinion is that that is less likely as the virus stabilises. But who knows, really.
Another lockdown would be very hard to justify I think. There'd have to be a new serious variant probably: we are in a much better place than this time last year.
