Can anyone tell me if the blue passports are now being issued or are they still using up all the stock of the horrid maroon things.

They are now a very dark blue almost black.

I know of people who have had the blue ones issued. It might depend which office the passport is coming from

I prefer the soft-backed lovely maroon things.....

you could always treat yourself to one of these, nearly as dear as the passport itself

I received one 10 days ago and its blue.....BUT I don't know whether passports are issued centrally or regionally ie are they now ALL blue or whether the office mine came from used up its red ones and somewhere else might still have them. I live in the South.

If I was asking what colour a toaster came in it would be treated as just an interest question which is what I see jamesnan is doing - not a veiled political comment.

the funny thing is my old original leather passport cover that I intend to carry on using is red!

All of the gold lettering on mine has worn off. I'll be applying for a new one soon - I hope it's blue (should be)

Actually I didn't mind either way but it would have been kind of cool and historic to have one of the last maroon ones.

The trouble with those passport covers is you have to remove the passport from them at customs, which can be fiddly.

my sister has a cover on hers and doesn'r remove it

I am hoping they are blue, as I need to renew mine this year. I do know the driving licence has reverted back to the old green colour, with a Union Jack on it.
