would it be good to have an option to comment on individual answers, rather than filling up the original OPs thread...sort of like branches
also so when people take issue with a particular comment, they can go off and discuss it on a side thread...and leave others to discuss the OPs question...
or would it just get messy?
i dont imagine it would get used in a massive way - like every single post - but its quite tedious when youy ask a question to find 50-odd answers worth of waffle, jokes and chitchat and have to search for actual answers...
Any non-answers in Topics outside of Chatterbank will 'definitely' be deleted by the Mods or Ed, in accordance with the ''if you don't know the answer, don't post'' ruling. <wink>
people who want to answer the original question will, however many threads are posted, I have myself on occasion read through the thread as it has gone off topic and replied to the initial question.
I agree joko -I posted a Suggestion just down there and out the 60 odd replies outta which there was only a few which were pertinent to my suggestion the rest were suggesting there was a hidden agenda (read paranoia).defeats the purpose and it speaks volumes the Ed didnt even take time to reply which then begs the Q whats the point in a Suggs thread?
I also posted another one but there didnt appear to the paranoid ones that there was an agenda there were only 4 replies -none of which were the Eds....(giving up...lol)
Nice idea Joko. Something like "Start a new question from this answer" which would provide links between that answer and the new question (so others could follow it, should they wish to).
it would be useful on the busy threads when for instance I post an answer, someone comes back with a question or comment related to that answer but by the time I get back there are loads of responses after that. Quite often answering or commenting on what has been said about my answer might look irrelevant but actually isn't..ir would be helpful to be able to annotate the original comment question to respond instead of doing it loads of responses late. Are you now confused? I am ;-)
I have used this facility on other forums and it does prevent the original thread from getting cluttered but surely its just as easy for to post a new thread in CB or under the topic if relevant to discuss the side issue
