Following on from smow's random fact post what is your fashion disaster? Mine was in the glam rock days of the 70s I had high waist trousers and leather jacket and platform shoes. That was pretty normal for the time but for me it was the first time I'd ever wore 3 inch high platform shoes. I went to the flicks but could barely walk and badly twisted both ankles, in the end I angrily took them off and chucked them as far as I could and hobbled around in my socks for the rest of the outing! I could barely walk for a few days! Never wore them again!

A white, uvp mini raincoat/trenchcoat. (Same era)

Totally useless!

My friend and I turned up at a Tramps' Ball dressed in ordinary outfits in the 1950s.  We did go home to change into something more suitable.

I loved my stacked heels in the 70s - gave me a whole new outlook on life 😁

My salmon pink Flares from the same era I now cringe at.

A black leather jacket and matching mini skirt worn with black boots. I thought I  looked good but looked very much like a woman of the night.

A recent disaster - bought green flared trousers but they just weren't "me" - should have returned them but didn't so now they are destined for the charity shop.

I once bought a pair of blue suede shoes in a sale, purely because I was reminded of the Elvis hit.  They were too small for me, and I'd got absolutely nothing to wear them with, but at least I could say that I'd owned a pair!

Black velvet hot pants with black tights...worn to work! I worked in an ad agency on Madison Avenue so I got away with it. But its still a bit cringe making.

Was much...much more comfortable in my embroidered jeans.

3 inch. platforms... Baby shoes! my favourite Ravel platforms had six inch plats and 11 inch heels.  And I could walk in them.   My  fashion disaster was  a Princess Di piecrust collar blouse, my neck just wasnt long enough. Although there was a very low back and low front cocktail dress that still evokes some very bad memories.

I remember a pair of dark brown velvet flared jeans with a sort of embossed pattern crushed into the velvet, OMG!

Buenchico's blue suede reminded me of my very high-heeled purple suede shoes that were a size too small. I never wore them, but they were beautiful to look at.

At my niece's wedding at least 30 years ago I wore a pink outfit. Flared skirt and matching top.  I must have been about two stones heavier than I am now and look like a fat pink blancmange on the photos. Thought I was the bees knees at the time lol.

Getting ready for a very posh black tie evening, and wearing a long black shoulderless fitted evening dress, I suddenly remembered an unused Christmas gift lying in a drawer - a long, floaty diaphanous black scarf the ends of which would reach to my knees.  That, thrown elegantly around my neck , completed the look.   Perfect!  Some time later,  champagne in hand and hobnobbing with the best of them, I looked down and to my absolute horror, from one end of the scarf, stark against the black of the dress, a big, bright white label  bearing huge black lettering was screaming at me.  Tesco!

You must of emalated Isadora Duncan naomi. Lucky you didn't strangle yourself . 😆

typo : emulated

Haaaa!  At that moment, that would have been preferable, Retro!    :o))

I cringe for you Naomi.

I bought an expensive and fashionable cat suit to go to a posh  evening do in London with my OH. It was sleeveless with button and loop fasteners and a little zip and I thought I looked good and it was very comfortable to wear until I needed to spend a penny when I realised that I had to take the damn thing completely off. Fumbling with tiny buttons when you've had a couple of drinks is no easy task, you need at least a ten minute warning! I never wore it again
