Do you put food out for the birds?

Or hedgehogs and other critters for that matter?

I've just found some florentine mince pies and mini stollen I forgot I had and some OOD Brioche buns that little G wasn't keen on and I've just thrown the lot out with some crusts of bread.

I like looking after the birdies :-)

Morning Chip. Well done, keep up the good work. xx

That owl is damn cute, Rowan. OH has a been in hi bonnet about going to Norfolk - Cromer I think - probably something to do with golf knowing him.
Cromer golf course is atop the cliffs and very windy ! lol have played it often
on the plus side you can buy Cromer Crabs freshly caught from a wee caravan thingy by the car park !
just popped out with a bag of pellets ! pooooring dooon ! all the wee birdies are hiding !
murraymints; I didn't know you were a golfer !
I have not played in a while now..but got down to 8 at my last medal round !

It's pouring down here too. I've just dropped the urchin off at Breakfast club.

Morning Khandro. That took me by surprise too, until I had a little wave of deja vu...

Cromer Crab - now there's a reason to drive to Norfolk!
used to play 18 before work and a further 36 after during the long sunny summer Norfolk months ! was a member at Eaton golf club off Newmarket Road, Norwich

I'll mention that to OH later, Minty. There's a good chance he's played there since he's played all over. I really want to treat him to membership at Enville (our nearest golf course) but it will cost thousands, all in all. His BF is a member of Stourbridge, but that's not in the same league as Enville.
Re. the OP, yes I put out seeds, nuts, bread, & fat-balls. There are several trees & the garden is always full of birds.
I also put out something every night for a pine-marten, (or for 'hungry-ghosts').
Yes. I actually have a separate bird table for "scraps" from my other table (which nestles under the eaves of my garage) and feeders, because it is usually fairly quickly commandeered by seagulls who seem to patrol from very high up and soon spot "food".

Are you near the sea, Canary? We're not but we still get gulls around here.

Khandro, remind me whereabouts in Germany you are... (my mother lived in Padbourne (sp?) when she was a youngster.
No longer feed them. The seagulls and rodents just take everything and have scared off or eaten anything small anyway. The number of moggies hasnt helped either.

Sadly we cant cull the gulls and get our wildlife back.
As an ex-resident, I can confidently declare that Sheringham golf links beats Cromer's, and Sheringham crabs are superior to Cromer crabs :-)
LadyCG, yes, I'm surrounded by it (Hayling Island)
morning Cromer xx ah yes Sheringham ! know that one too ! and Hunstanton !
Probably an Eagle owl then, most likely an escape from a collection as they really don't like being too close to people. Dave and I always stayed in place Cromer on our Norfolk holidasys the Hotel ' de Paris by the pier, used to watch the turnstones running around on the prom, they would go to where folk were fishing and steal bait from their boxes. The only other place I know where that happens is Southend on Sea.
Then straight after brekkie walk to the bus station and get the coasthopper to somewhere like Titchwell or Cley or Wells next the sea. Always tried to fit in a couple of boat trips, plus a beer trip to Norwich. We did the Heritage rail trip from Sheringham to Holt, that was good was lots of partridges and pheasant.
morning Youngma xx we get gulls sometimes..when weather at sea is bad ? some are absolutely huge and they quickly gulp down everything in sight !

Minty; My club: where you will be always welcome.
My little village is surrounded by it, & the no. 1 tees of both the 9 & 18 hole courses are only 5 minutes walk from my house.
