All I had was a pet hen called "Cheepie"- followed me everywhere.
I pestered my parents for ages...going so far as to 'adopt' the neighbours cat.
They gave in and got me a Beagle puppy for my 10th birthday.
There were cats and dogs in the house when we were little.
Yes, always had dogs, cats, hamsters and rabbits growing up which is why I'm such an animal lover now. Thanks Mum and Dad.
And what were their names?

Somebody will be along soon to ask you what your stage name is - all you have to do is take the name of the first school you attended followed by the street you currently live in.
Dogs ,cats, a Flemish Giant, pony and a gander called'Ossie' .Should say that I lived on a fam for seven years when I was young.
I had a couple of hamsters- Goldie and Flash. Our old moggy adopted us when I was 10 and stayed with us well past my teen years.
We always had a family pet when growing up (term used loosely) Cats, Dogs, Gerbils, Rabbits I even had some goldfish... big tank for four of them.
My stage name would be:
Holy(rosary)
Moses ( St, Belfast)
*four
Gorgeous - the pets!
Hamster, Budgie. That's all because no cats or dogs allowed in council flat. However I spent so much time with grandparents who always had dogs and cats so I had plenty of contact. At 15 we moved to the country and immediately got a kitten. Mum and dad worked full time and mum wasn't a dog lover so no dog. As soon as I married, 2 kittens shortly followed by followed by dog and from then on dogs and cats galore all rescued except one. At one time 5 cats and two dogs. Now 3 cats and one dog. I cant imagine a home without pets.
Yes they are the Alaskan Malamute is much bigger than that already, I didn't take that photo I think he was only six months then, now ten months ... shetland pony springs to mind. Fortunately he loves me.
First pet; me, six years old; mam, single mum district nurse with a push-bike; home, back-street flat next to the station; landlord, a man who had a car and a hat and a comfy embonpoint.
Mam "Oh, Mr Naylor, would it be alright if we bought a puppy?"
Kindly Mr Naylor, "Oh, go on then."
Me - Who the heck is he to be in charge of us!?!"

Such small incidents can colour one's life.
Not really. We weren't encouraged to name the cows, pigs and hens we could end up eating.
Lassie, when she arrived, was a trembling white short-haired terrier. I loved her (but I don't remember having to take her out for the usual...). Perhaps we let her out the front door on her own and she usd the gutter before scuttling back indoors.
Lovely photo Arky x
Dog, 2 that I can remember, & rabbits.
^^^^
Beautiful dog & little cat, Arky. :-)
