thanks both, its a recipe in a sunday mag for Apple cake with cinnamon, looks fairly easy and I have friends coming to lunch on Saturday. Lady in Asda did suggest I bought castor sugar and stuck some vanilla pods in the sugar overnight.
or icing sugar with a reusable vanilla pod ....
but I think overnight is a bit short
Hi Dee... I have a Vanilla Sugar container in my cooking cupboard.... 2lb bag of caster sugar one and a half vanilla pods split and placed in the sugar.. Give the container a good shake and leave on the shelf for when you need it. As you use the sugar keep topping it up. The vanilla pods will carry on working for a good six months. Apple and cinnamon cake sounds good. x
I agree, overnight is not long enough Peter...best do it today Dee and with a bit of luck it should be Okish by Saturday
peter pedant iam with ouy but the longer the better
I used to use vanilla sugar all the time in cake baking: just pop a bag of castr sugar in an airtight container, along with a vanilla pod and leave for at least a week. After that, bob's your uncle!
