By so few for so many...! This predictive thingy is doing my head in !

Never was so much owed by so many to so few was a wartime speech made by the British Prime Minister Winston Churchill on 20 August 1940. The name stems from the specific line in the speech, Never in the field of human conflict was so much owed by so many to so few, referring to the ongoing efforts of the Royal Air Force pilots who were at the time fighting the Battle of Britain, the pivotal air battle with the German Luftwaffe with Britain expecting a German invasion. the battle ultimately became known as "The Few".

I was born just after the war and like many people of my age I grew up knowing people who had served, just ordinary guys and gals who did incredible things and most of them never talked about it except in a general sort of way.My uncle for instance only ever said he'd been in the RAF,it was only after his death we found out he'd been a navigator in Bomber Command and had flown over 30 missions. After doing a bit of research into a local regiment I discovered that my best friends dad who lived next door but one to us was one of the most decorated men in the regiment. As I said ordinary people doing extraordinary things. We had it easy because they had it hard and yes it does make you feel humble.
