The clip actually shows the Glorious being hit by gunfire from the Scharnhorst. Painful to watch for me.
My mothers 3 older brothers all went down with their ships during ww2 Clarion.
A poignant time indeed.

Lest we forget
my friend in Australia lost her brother Leslie in WW2. I did go out to Runnymead to see his memorial on a wall plaque, alongside thousands of others who lost their lives. All Anzac airmen - very hard not to weep then at the tragic loss of life.

Her mum (my great grandmother)had made him a fruit cake which she was keeping in the pantry for when he came home. Sadly he never came home. That cake remained in the pantry for many years and my nan told me that no one dared touch it.
Just watching the service on TV now. Every time I hear Elgar's Nimrod, it brings a tear to my eye.
