My daughter phoned me yesterday to say she had a flock of waxwings in her garden, she lives in Stamford, Lincs. Not long ago, she had a green woodpecker on her lawn and took photos on her phone. I have been feeding the birds for years and years and get a good variety in my garden in Peterborough. I got her on to the bird feeding bug and now after only a few months, she is getting all these birds I have never seen in the flesh. I am madly jealous but at least she sends me the pictures.
We've had Waxwings in our garden.. about 3 weeks ago .. we do feed the birds, there was about 6/8 of them... they stayed for about 2 hours... we get a Spotted Woodpecker..and a while back.. we saw a Jay...Were in Somerset
You can count me in as jealous too, I've not seen any waxwings in my garden either!
I do get a lot of other birds coming in to feed though, including green parakeet's.
Last summer a Male Bullfinch came in and finished off my Saskatoon's, but it was worth it just to see those lovely colors
