Its finally stoped raining here, after days and days of the wretched stuff, and many fields are under water, rivers overflowing etc etc. What has happened to all the rabbits that lived in those fields ? Is is curtains for them? I know we can't help them but I am feeling very sorry if we have lost them all.

I'm sure this weather must have had some impact on wildlife in general. Hopefully some of the rabbits will have relocated to higher ground but I think it's inevitable that some will be lost not just because their homes are flooded but their food is also under water. It is sad that animals have to suffer because of the thoughtless and shortsighted actions of human kind. Luckily rabbits a are very resilient and weather permitting they should be thriving again soon, other species might have suffered more.
I also noticed rabbits had become conspicuous by their absence, as I trudged through the rain drenched meadow, with my dog and I thought to myself, them rabbits aint dumb they'l be snuggled up and cosey in their burrows, if they know whats good for them
And for sure, today, the first bright and sunny day, after several wet ones, I noticed the rabbits had resurfaced and looked and seemed pretty glad about it too!
I hope this new year, before us will favor us all, in more ways than just the weather!
I am not too sure with wild rabbits but I thought they dug a warren into hilly ground. the hole goes down and then up so making a water lock but keeping the inside sort of dry. They can go without food for a few days, no problem.
