Iceburg lettuce! Does anyone wash this, I do, but it's a pet hate of mine, I despise the salad spinner as well. A restaurant near me serves wedges of iceburg with their meals, surely these haven't been washed, it would be too difficult wouldn't it?

Grated cheese freezes well.
well tabatha...you being a male must be reeeally bored if you're reading
this thread. lol
No, I never wash my lettuce .... ;o}
Talking of grated cheese, I buy it ready grated and keep it in the freezer. You can use it from frozen for sauces, or defrost as much as you want to use.
Lazy cook? I buy ready chopped frozen onions - haven't tried them yet as I keep forgetting they're in the freezer.
Bloke went to doctor with lettuce hanging fron his bottom.

Doctor said, It was just the tip of the Iceberg for him?

Thank's for your imput tab, your life is infinitely more interesting than mine being as you're on here at ten past midnight, reading threads about chopping lettuce an all.

The freezing option for cheese sounds good, might give that a go. Annemollie, my mum uses those onions, she thinks they're great.

LNM, boom boom.
I don't wash iceberg lettuce and feel guilty when I look at the bags of pre-grated cheese.
I've one of those grating attachment thingies for the food processor, a bit of a nightmare to wash tho.

Now, frozen onions. I'm intrigued. Just for stews/mince and the like??
I could never not wash lettuce. I don't know who's handled it in the supermarket or shop or sneezed over it and they have been picked by hand!! The lettuce in bags is in gas so I rinse that too!
Only rinse home grown or organic ones as they are more likely to have living passengers. pre grated cheese has anti caking agents added so I always grate fresh and grating a lemo orlime for zest is a pleasure just for the smell
Always have to wash iceberg lettuce. Don't like the job, but have to do it. I use my food processor to grate cheese, I buy a large block in Costco and grate it and transfer it into smaller portions to zip lock bags to freeze it, when I take a bag out of freezer, the cheese gets emptied into a lidded dish.
When I saw this headline - I thought it should be in Body & Soul....(:o((

I also love iceburg lettuce - I cut it up and wash in a colendar, shake it about a bit then pat dry with kitchen roll.
oops - just looked in my fridge - its not iceburg lettuce I love - its Chinese Leaf lettuce....(:o))
