Good morning Noraq and Welshie..glad to hear the Rugby was exciting :-)
..ahem..back to Pubs;-)..i"m ok with getting to together with friendly folk here..with one or two caveats..
..and recommending favourite haunts would be an interesting thread..
..please allow me to relate a recent personal AB"contact,Boaty..which i am now tickled by..although i was "mortified"at the time..
Crosswords "section"got me using AB more often..and one Sunday a.m. a slightly tricky clue gave the Answer - Etonian - i remarked to the other guy who answered - Eton share a School song with our "alma mater" -
He was ..surprised,and delighted.. er,Boaty i"m a bit "fuzzy"with things IT..computers.. to be fair to the other ABer,he had given hints, which i suppose a regular tinternet user would"ve twigged...but O no,not I.. ;-)He had said he was friends from childhood, with Howard Jacobson, another OB..i took a brief glance at a link..and,in "conversation",i recalled he had lived/still lived in Tennessee...somewhere in my tiny mind;-)i made some feeble attempt at levity, along the lines of..."Yeaaww..so did you get to ride a Horse around town..er..pardner! ;0)"..
Imagine the look on my mug,when a simple Google...revealed him to be,a Gentleman,enjoying retirement from - "Emeritus Professor,University of Tennessee,at Knoxville,Tenn... F.R.S.A.
Needless to say,as a fellow OB,he was both succinct and gracious in his reply..
Here"s two more OB"s done good - I hope you enjoy this! :-)
