Is honesty always the best policy? damn, im beginning to think it isn't, ive just admitted to having a holiday booked for a week and a half and could have got a short term job for 6 weeks or ongoing. The agency need to tell them this information and even though I think I would be the best candidate, they are not going to choose me now are they!!!!?

Do you mean that the job and the holiday would both be during the same period?
well they are going to think you value a holiday over the prospect of getting a new job with them

I know but I need the money right now which would be a daily rate. I didn't want to say anthing until I had got the job and would then hope they liked me so much they would then cope without me for a short time.
///they are not going to choose me now are they!!!!?///

Unlikely.

Honesty is not always the best policy.
maybe gift your holiday to a family member and take the job..?

At one time there were traditional values based on Biblical sources. But no more. Now they are pushed aside as no longer fashionable. New life-styles are in vogue. “Truth” is relative. There is no right or wrong anymore. No need to be judgmental. Each one has his own set of values, decides what is right for him, does his own thing. No-fault fornication. No-fault adultery. No-fault divorce. No-fault child neglect. And no blame for any of the consequences—the soaring teenage pregnancies, the millions of abortions, the ruined lives of children. And since there is no fault and no blame, there is no guilt. In these ways the world throws true values in the trash can.
I'd say honesty is still the best policy in these circumstances. It may not be best for you, but its still the best for the rest of the world. If you didnt tell them about the holiday you would effectively be tricking them into giving you the job which is not good.

So be glad that you didnt inconvenience everyone by dong that.
Sometimes it pays to be economical with the actualities
nextqueen, you have a holidauy booked, so not available for 2 weeks or so, they'll be other jobs!............don't worry about it!.............
Be proud of your honesty, there's not a lot of it about these days.
I hink it'sa case of you're damned if you do and you're damned if you don't. So all you can do is go with what you feel is right. You'll feel better for it in the long run, if a few pounds poorer.
