How paranoid are you?

This kind of follows on from my phone thread. JJ mentioned about an iphone app that can trace where you are.

I'm the kind of person who draws cash out of the cashpoint machine and pays for everything in cash. I once read the 2 most likely places you will get your card scammed is a petrol station or restaurant.

Even when I use the cashpoint machine I hold my wallet over the keypad just in case there is one of those camera things they use to grab your pin.

I dont like buying things online. But when I do, I'll never use the laptop at home because I dont trust the level of security. At work we're firewalled behind a military network so I prefer to use that method.

I'd never entertain the idea of keeping a wallet in back pocket.

Does anyone else put little 'security measures' in their life to try and make things safer?

I have one of these, it's pretty effective with both paper and bank cards :)

I've twice had my card details stolen after purchasing stuff online.

No, you're not paranoid, just as cautious as so many should be.
I'm fairly relaxed about online shopping, using ATMs and paying by debit card abroad but putting bank statements in the recycling - you've got to be kidding!

I do the hiding thingy at cashpoints, but I bank online and shop online. I have a shredder but as I usually let things pile up the daughter picks up all the statements, bills etc and puts them through the industrial shredder at work. I also have ID theft insurance.
It only takes a couple of those bills and a bank statement and someone could go off and create a new pinki!
I'd worry about the neighbours seeing my bank statements in the street - I spend far too much on self-pampering.
maybe those of us declaring how we're quite lax with security are not doing ourselves any favours by broadcasting it online too!
for any snidey-types reading... from now on I will be mega-vigilant, change all my passwords and send out my flying monkeys to tear up any swine even thinking of stealing my identity!!

Pinki, please do consider getting a shredder. The recycling people won't care that you've shredded stuff first before putting it into their bins - after all, that's pretty much the first thing that they will do with it anyway!
