been in howells many times dotty. its a small world eh
Try searching in the JewishGen indices - these names sound very jewish to me. Probably originating in Russia.
Question Author
which genealogy site do you both use?
lol - which don't I use!

Normally ancestry.co.uk, also findmypast. I also use familysearch.org. The rest I dip in and out of when I need them.

Leon died in Cardiff in 1902 so Mary Ann obviously remarried.
There is a May Bresner born 1891 Swansea on the 1911, could you check her out please barmaid?
I use ancestry.co.uk, familysearch, org plus it's pilot, i can also use the 1911 site to do general searches that can match people to each other and not always need to see the transcriptions.
I can't find Reuben anywhere.

As for May, she was in service at the household of the Davies family. It's a small hotel (whose name I can't read, next to the townhall in Swansea). She was born in Swansea and is noted as single.

ive been using the library to use ancestry but its limited so cant access all of it. my OH is fed up of me going down there all the time so ive got permission to spend some money and subscribe to a site. think i'll go with ancestry.
There are only 9 instances of Bresner on the 1911 census, there is an obvious family group living in Birkenhead, father James 29, mother Ellen 28 and 2 small children then there is a Annie Bresner in Godstone surrey aged 24 and a Bernhard Bresner in Fulham aged 33, then the May in Swansea aged 20, it would be worth looking at them all for any connection
jubie just do the monthly subscription at £12.95 a month, you can do it with your debit card and i you don't want it any month just don;t pay it and it's not an issue, saves paying a chunk up front.
you get the premium membership which is all UK records, if you want the worldwide that is £18,95 a month and gives you access to US and Australian records but is not really vital
Question Author
thanks dotty will do the worldwide one i think as connections to egypt etc.
I think May is a spelling or transcription error. The only births I can find for between 1890 and 1892 for a similar spelling are Bresnen.
Question Author
thank you so so much for all your hard work on this.
ive burnt the dinner now so id better go and rescue it!!!
many many thanks ive got loads to go on now to try and find a connection
Don't be fooled into thinking that ancestry's worldwide membership does what it says on the tin, it's abit like the world series, by worldwide they mean US and Canada!
Question Author
oh right dotty thanks for that silly me to think it might actually mean the world! lol
If you do join ancestry, there are two trees on there that mention Max. Unfortunately, whilst they trace the Goddards quite a way, there is nothing further on Max.
Question Author
thanks barmaid you and dotty have been a geat help
