I have the chance to go to Turkey, for a week, for free, without my parents, with my gay friend and his family.
BUT, it's during term time, in a couple of weeks, and i'd have to miss 6 days of lessons which means 5 hours of geography and biology and 8 hours of chemsitry and 7 hours of maths ! Plus I ned to ask today if it'll be unauthorised abscenced, which any future uni's ask you about . . . .
Not very in the resorts molly - my friend's just come back from Turkey and they are wearing normal summer pool and beachwear in all the photos. It's only if you go to places not used to tourists that you'd need to cover up.
Hi Molls. I haven't got the time/patience/inclination to read through all of this thread, but I reckon you should go for the holiday if you can. It might not be an 'educational' trip but I think you could benefit from it and gain some independence whilst away from the family - no disrespect intended. If it really is something you want to do then I am sure you are resourceful enough to catch up on your studies. Bon voyage ;o)
ditto ttfn, you will need a passport as its outside EU. Turkey will expand your geography knowledge especially as it's a modern muslim country. You should benefit from understanding co-existance between global faiths (religious studies).
Personally I don't think you should go as it's in term-time, and call it a college if you like, you are in effect in the sixth form at school. I never took my daughter out of school and just accepted the extra costs of holidays that entailed.
