Are there any alternatives to MS Money? Just got a new pc, and money is no longer comaptible

Is Money that Excel-like spreadsheet program that's part of Microsoft Works? If so, then try downloading OpenOffice for free from http://www.openoffice.org It has a Word-like program, an Excel-like spreadsheet program, a Publisher-like program and a Powerpoint-like program, and it's completely free (and should also be compatible with some Microsoft created documents too if I'm not mistaken).

Money is a separate program that Microsoft offer *in addition to* Office so I can't see how Office, or an Office alternative can replace it.

How exactly can MS Money not be compatible with a new PC? What's up?

If I recall, it's a seperate program but only in the same way that Microsoft WordPad is essentially a cheap, watered-down version of Word. So I figured, in the same way, Money (which comes as part of the same Works package) would be a cheap, watered-down version of Excel.

One possibility is that if he's got a new PC, the Works package he had may have come pre-installed on his old system, and thus transferring it to another wouldn't be very easy. Just a guess mind.

unfamilar with money, but sounds like a type of program that lets you manage your finances. if so, try Quicken. a popular program that does just that.

New pc is Windows XP, and my version of Money is WIn 98, so it doesn't run.
No Money is nothing to do with Excel. It's a small accounts package, for home owners.
I'v used Quicken before, but I think it is more expensive than Money - although better. But I don't need anything grand, just need to keep a track of my bank balance!

have you tried installing it on XP? If its for win98, it should be able to be installed on XP too, I would have thought...
