The tv's are as stated above not being used so i hope they do send the detector van round
I would think that if you refused entry, they will prosecute and that won't go in your favour.

if you let them in they can see whether your tv sets are being used, and if they are warm.. and that won't go in your favour.

why not just get rid of the tv's then?
You do not have to prove you have no TV. Do the council come around harassing you for a dog license, because their records show that you don't have a dog license? No, because that would be daft. The licensing company who work for the BBC, use scaremongering and threats to get you to pay. You know - red lettering, court action, statement under caution etc. All this is just rhetoric to extort your cash.

Just ignore them completely.
TV detectors are not reliable and cannot be used as evidence in court.

sara3 would you chuck out a large screen Tv so that after you have had some building work done and you get some more money together you have to buy a new Tv. ?
honestly? I'd probably watch it between the drilling, and cover it in a dust-sheet at other times.
Tweed...what the hell are you on about? In England you don't have to have a dog licence if you own a dog, they were phased out many years ago!
The TV licencing people WILL prosecute if you cannot prove that you don't use any sets you have in your home.
When ReggaeMan gets a huge fine he can come to you to help himpay it can he?

Just an additional query - how do they know it's your house that's watching the telly and not your neighbours?

Before anyone says, I DO have a TV licence and always have - got it on direct debit (oooh, get me!)
I'm touched.

see you in court :o)
Lots of b0llux above, tweed is correct, these are the facts.

- They have to demostrate you are using a TV.
- they cannot enter your house.
- detector van "evidence" is not evidence

Just be firm and ignore them
Im getting those letters from them and i havnt even lived in the property for 4 years, I cancelled the TV licence 3 years ago and have had those types of letters and threats ever since.
No-one has ever arrived to take a statement (well not that i know of anyway)
