Heartbreaking

A family had a grey cat and a Labrador dog who were the best of pals and basically inseparable. November of last year 2008, the cat went missing and the whole family were distraught and used every method available to find their beloved cat, but all to no avail.

Last Sunday, the family went for a drive and upon slowing down at a roundabout saw, on the side of the road a grey cat, thin, matted coat and could hardly walk. They didn't recognize their own cat and started to drive away, when the dog started barking furiously and could not be calmed. As a second thought, they drove back to the roundabout, stopped, opened the car door and the dog jumped out and went straight to the cat, followed by the wife who looked more carefully, realizing that it was their lost cat.

She picked the cat up and put it into the back of the car with the dog who at this time had stopped barking and was licking his feline friend.

The cat has now recovered completely and the family are happy and complete once again.

The cat had traveled 30kilometrs and the only explanation being that it had jumped onto a builders truck and had been transported away inadvertently.

I couldn't believe the family saw the cat and were going to drive away, it's only the fact it was their cat that they stopped!

BOO...on this island if you picked up all the cats like the one that I have described, you would be inundated.

Mrs sqad and me go twice a week as part of a rota to feed 80 cats in a sanctuary.

Still, innundated or not, I know that I personally couldn't leave a cat in that condition.

My initial reaction was the same as Boo's. Maybe I could be the 'crazy cat lady' of the island.

It is a nice story - so many tales of missing pets end in hearache for all concerned. I love my cats (and previously my dogs) as surrogate children and like their quirky personalities - to think of them lost and hurt breaks my heart.

so pleased they found their cat again they are amazing animals arnt they i had one go missing for 11 months she turned up one day as if she had not been away ,good on you sqad for helping at the rescue centre

I'm typing this one handed and tickling one of our moggies with my left hand! Talk about having us wrapped around their paws!

I love that heartwarming story above! Wonder how many of its lives it has left? One?

.....I figure if I am ever fortunate enough to live in a less built up area,then when I am 70-I will be the local cat-lady...lol
