I don't like children wearing jewellery but I think the engagement and wedding rings are symbolic in this case....so if it had been suggested to me I'd have been happy to do it...x

Beautiful, Ric....I have no photographs of my granddaughter who lived for such a short time....I see her constantly in her twin....but one picture of her would be so precious.....x

Many Many years ago I was heartless enough to tell someone that perhaps it was for the best that she did not have a photograph of her baby that had died. I naively thought it was best to forget!!!
In my defence - I was very young and had no children at the time
beautiful pictures and such fabulous children and parents. thanks for posting ric.
Made me cry. Lovely photos.
in Victorian times people sometimes photographed the dead as a memento

warning... some of those are rather creepy, including a couple where they've drawn eyes on the eyelids to make them look alive.

In fact I suppose all of them are rather creepy to our way of thinking
Ric, I'm not at ease with the photos of the children with jewellery draped on them.
jno. SOME of those photographs are actually lovely.
I believe it was common Victorian practice to have a photograph of ones deceased relatives. If it helps the grieving process for some then how can it be wrong?
do people take pictures of deceased relatives/friends in their coffin now ?
In the days of digi cameras and smart phones I don't suppose there's much need for it. Many photos are taken of the living.
not that i know of Anne.
Wish I hadn't opened the link :((
Those beautiful babies look so perfect, hard to believe they are terminally ill.
//heartbreaking and beautiful //.... Perfectly put.
What a brave decision to have those photos taken, at such a difficult time.
I have some photographs of both of ours which we keep locked away... we'll look at times especially their birthdays but otherwise no.

These people have been hugely brave, we certainly couldn't have done what they did....

I think I can understand what you mean but I think in these circumstances I think its quite a touching gesture

Tiggerblue - I'm sorry and I hope it has not upset you too much - would you like a best answer as a frivolous make up gesture?
