Seriously?

You expected somebody to get a photo card at 17 when they pass their test and to still be using the same license and photo at 70?

oh!
I've still got an old paper one, albeit riddled with fines.. ;-) hold on tho.. is it going to be compulsory to have a photo one at some stage..?
No not until you have to renew it for another reason then you have to get a photo card.

(morning BTW) x
morning Chuck... did you see that I'm now double-barrelled..! someone else wants to join us! lol ;-)
Yes, I found this out the other day. I am sure it is not common knowledge, because I mentioned it to a couple of workmates, and they didn't believe me. And I drive for a living!!
the licence doesnt expire, the picture does
OK so my photo is same as when I had it done in 1999 but I renewed it for new address and didnt cost me a thing so do I have to renew it again?
Check the date on it, but I think you do.

Hippy... you'd better have a large bed then ;)
Bums!! 07/12/09!! I dont look any different!
I did not know this!!

I am fed up with this, as I have got to renew my passport
at a cost of over 70 and now this!!

We have just received notification from the DVLA that my husband's driving licence photo expires in February 09 (this month).
l wasn't aware that it costs 17.50 to renew it, plus the cost of the couple of photos. I suppose I'd better drag hubby to the passport photo machine in town, and get it done.
It's called 'sneaky' tax! Brown has given so much money away he has to recoup it somewhere, and who better than from the long suffering motorist!!

Roll on 2010.
It was all over the news last year, as it was 10 years since the introduction of photo licences.
