I am having a major clear out and have several bags of old clothes that are probably not good enough to re-sell via a charity shop or ebay but it seems a waste to burn them. Any suggestions as to what I should do with them because they have to go
Check with your nearest recycling bank (normally run by the local council). Ours has a large container for old clothes, which are later sorted, and sold in bulk to industrial concerns for use as rags. At least as you say this is better than burning them.
Why not find one of those clothing recycle bins?
Anyone who needs clothing form there will be grateful for a pair of shoes with a worn sole and no holes, or a jumper with no threads missing
Wow, what a fast response-clothing bins is a great idea and there is one in our village, I shall take a trip down there tomorrow. Thanks guys I knew I coud rely on you for good suggestions
You should find a large bin at your local recycling or landfill site for exactly this sort of thing - clean clothes that can be made into rags. Have a peek at this useful little site:-
Donate them to a local homeless charity...they need clothes all the time. They often have to burn what ever their clients show up in....so 'new' clothes are a blessing.
