Charles Edward Stewart was the son of James Francis Stewart (James III, the 'Old Pretender') and Princess Clementina Sobieski of Poland.  Charles was born in Rome but spoke English and French.
BPC spent his first 24 years growing up in Rome and being trained by the military.  It is therefore quite likely that he could speak Italian as well.

He also spent his last 22 years in Itlay.   He died in Rome on January 31, 1788 (although a Scottish hero, apparently, haunted throughout his life by the passion for Stuart kingship he ultimately ended his life as a pathetic drunk)
