Where's the compassion in Christianity? There seems to be a distinct lack of it around here. Most Christians who contribute to R&S appear to be full of doom and gloom, totally wrapped up in themselves and their biblical ideology (when it suits), obsessed with saving their own souls and to have little thought or compassion for their fellow man. Christian? No. I don't think so. I've known Jews and Buddhists who have a more 'Christian', caring philosophy.

naomi, you know how much I think of you...........oh! I forgot
you'r divorced and remarried. You dirty little harlot you,
you sinner and hellbound scum, what a dirty little adulterous you are. I bet you love leading men astray.
I nearly forgot, you think about UFO's. as well. What an adulterous witch you are.You wil burn in hell, you sorceress..........love Mani. X.X.X
Oh dear! Have I upset you?
Question Author
Morning Chaps ...... Oh Mani, you really do say the nicest things. I'm touched - but not quite as touched as you.

Theland: No you haven't upset me. I just wonder why many Christians have so little compassion. Their attitude often seems to border on hatred or disgust towards others outside their faith and so completely contradicts the teaching they profess of follow.
My compassion extends to all, following the example of Jesus, who died for all.
He hated the sin but loved the sinners, like me, so could I do less than follow His wonderful example?
Question Author
Theland: You don't follow his example. You don't love the people who run the Catholic church - nor do you love the muslims. Shouldn't you be loving everyone?
"Do as you would be done by," is a compassion for people that I subscribe to. But I don't see your point. Does that prohibit me criticising muslim jihadists or the religionists who want to impose a flawed doctrine?
Question Author
It should prohibit you from criticising anyone. Cast the first stone and all that.
Did Jesus criticise the Pharisees for wrong doctrine?
Question Author
He may have done (and if you say he was god that was prerogative), but he told you not to.
Question Author
sorry that should have been 'his prerogative'.
