What is the wax at the bottom of a used ear candle - residue from the burnt candle or ear wax (or both?)

It's wax off the paper that they roll to make the candle. They then tell you it's wax "drawn up" by the candle. It's a load of old hocum basically.
What's an ear candle?
Some old pony that is supposedly a Hopi Native American Indian treatment for gullibility. They stick a rolled up bit of wax paper in your ear and then light the end. The rising air then draws the badness out of anyones head that is empty enough to try it. I think they give a bottle of snake oil to go home with too.
I think they really work! I had a blocked ear once and it soon sorted it out and my partner finds them very effective when his sinuses play up.
Thanks
No doubt and plenty of people believe in the Loch Ness monster, flying saucers, ghosts and mediums. I also notice that newspapers print little forecasts of how our future will be based on the positions of celestial bodies. More power to you if you think it works just make sure you don't recieve a hole in you eardrum when burning wax falls down on it as some people have. http://www.quackwatch.org/01QuackeryRelatedTopics/candling.h tml
