I wonder if anyone can help me. My oldest daughter is 5 and she is always crying. She starts over the silliest thing. Her teacher has called me into class everyday for the last 2 weeks to say that shes like it at school. Ive asked her if she is happy at school and she says she loves it and that nothing is wrong. Ive tried calming her, shouting at her, taking things away every time she does it, rewarding her when she doesnt. I dont know what else to do. Any ideas??

Is there any chance that there is some bullying or something like that going on that could be causing her emotiona state leaving her fragile and prone to tears over little things?
I knew a boy who burst into tears at the slightest thing. Someone remarked it seemed that he was not crying on purpose, it was almost like an involuntary attack. His parents investigated further and it turned out he was suffering from mini epileptic attacks. He was medically treated and is fine.
Is this a possiblity?
Good luck.
I haven't got children but perhaps if this situation is not getting any better you could go see your family doctor with your little girl and they then can best advise you.

also it may be worth talking to other mums?

good luck

maybe she dos love school but theeis a tiny thing worrying her, we adults dont always think about stiff that can be like climbing a moutain for a five year old. my daughter at that age wouldnt attempt to copy letters or numbers, she wouldnt draw pictures or anything, the teacher was frustrated and tried all sorts with her, she was a bright happy child and the teacher knew this.
it surficed that my daughter wouldnt attempt to do stuff in case she got it wrong and teacher would get cross.

can your daughter manage to visit the loo on her own
can she manage getting dinner at lunchtime
is anything scaring her in the playground
is there anything she doesnt understand at school? if so it can seem really scary, for a five year old.
just a few suggestions to think about.
ho[pe you get to the bottom of things
good luck.
This could be a cry for attention, I had the same issue with my daughter and she just grew out of it. it's a long haul but if you ignore her crying, she will realsie that it's not the way to get attention and at the moment, whether shouting or rewarding, you are giving her the attention shes after. If you continue to do this she will think this is the only way to get it. Good luck!

Thank you for all the suggestions. I think Im going to try and ignore it for a while and see how that goes. Then as Woolywoof says she might stop it.
