...ok I am a dotty old cow so please be gentle... I have recently bought my first car ( 13 year old vauxhall corsa for 400 ) ...now the bloke who I bought it with did not give me a log book or a new ownership slip/form/thing ( I know ,I know he saw me coming , what can I say?)... now I have figured out that I needed to send off to the dvla for a new ownership certificate ( I am waiting for the post they sent it on the 31/10/06)... the tax ran out on the 31/10 but I'm not driving it at the mo... now what I want to know is what do I need to take to the post office with me? , 1. M.O.T certificate 2. Insurance documents 3. the new ownership document (that I'm awaiting) ...what else?.... ...I know it's a stupid question , but I honestly have no one to ask....
We all have to start somewhere ermintrude, (lovely name) it's not a stupid question.
A lot of so called expert motorists think they know everything about driving and owning a car but reading some of the questions here it is obvious they don't.
....aww thankyou so much, I have never ventured into the motering section before, but if your replies are anything to go by, I will definatly be back.... think I might have a q about anti freeze brewing in the old grey matter....thanks once again, now where did I put me purse...?....
You cannot licence your vehicle at the P.O without a V5C reg certificate or V5/2 green slip or V11 tax reminder (in your name)!. You need to go along to your nearest DVLA local office and complete a form V62 (19 fee applicable) if nobody is registered as the keeper on DVLA records then you may licence the vehicle, MOT / insurance needed & fee.
...all done, I recieved my New Ownership certificate(v5c) in the post this morning,(took them 5 weeks!!!) tottered along to the P.O and got me tax disc...thanks for all your help...
Had to do a double take on this one - I thought it read,
"..ok I am a dorty old cow so please be gentle ..... " but now I see it says, "dotty". Oh well - no luck .... need to clean this monitor !!!
