I can't do links on my phone but what do we think of the new portrait of the King.

Looks like a sea of blood to me..dreadful piece of art.

It's ok. Makes him a scarlet man though.

I don't think the fingers look particularly sausage like.

I like it.

his head is brilliant

the red maybe too much even allowing for the Welsh Guards outfit. Critics could look back and say it relates back to when he wanted to be part of Camilla's toilet practices - Ed, I have put that discreetly, I hope.

I like it, the face is good and that's all that really matters in portraiture. I suppose he could have been painted on a horse several times too big for him, like Charles I, to add a sense of power, but nah...

Of course it's an outrage that the background isn't blue like the passports

I really like it.

So very different from the more traditional pictures we have seen of past monarchs.

I like it, too - very sensitively done 😀

Looks like his publicity shot for when he auditioned for Dr Who.

maybe it's alluding to how the crown was gained & sustained by much blood-letting at home & abroad

Sorry, not for me.

I can imagine him saying,as an aside,to some aide," It's ghastly. It makes me look like a damn commie not a Colonel in Chief of the Welsh Guards". I have seen a few other portraits the artist has done and there is no denying he is very talented but I can't think why he painted this.I definitely don't like it

Didn't Churchill take a portrait into the garden of No 10 and burn it?

And where's Ralf Harris' portrait of the late Queen?

Probably locked away in some dungeon beneath Windsor Castle.

Lots of claret in there but no blue.
Should've worn his Burnley shirt.

The Great Conspiracy Nutters have found some 'interesting' patterns in the centre if you make a mirrored image ...

😂 ^ Some people have too much time on their hands.

Moi??

Not unless you're one of the aforementioned GCN! 🤣

Done mostly from a photograph with a few tweaks, I would say.

Nothing wrong with that though, in this day and age.

Apparently the old masters would use lenses to project an image of the subject onto their canvas to guide their painting.

Khandro, did you actually read the article?  4 sittings by the King, and much work in between. Its a rather large canvas.

//Painting a portrait of this size was "quite an operation", says Yeo. Having used his first sittings with the king for photographs and sketches, he did most of the painting between the third and fourth sittings.

He then had to hire a truck to transport the canvas and his equipment to Clarence House for the last time he saw the King.

As well as easel, painting tables and lighting, they had to "cover all the carpets in sheets so we didn't damage these priceless carpets".

Yeo also brought "a dais, a sort of platform, for me to stand on so I was up high enough to paint his face and one for him to stand on so that he's on a level as well".//

Think with all the red mist around him he is trying to support the Labour Party 🤣lol.
