can't think of any other reason to go there....

Why would you want to?

Question Author

I've just heard mention of holidays there on the radio.  I wouldn't want to go there myself.

As for the opium, wouldn't most of us want to try a pipe or two?

"Holidays" in Afghanistan? right oh! What next? the Gaza strip?

yeah Times yesterday, Afghan and Taliban saying it is safe enough to visit.

opium... you wd have to ask your tour organiser.

yup TTT - incredz but true - tourism returns ( creeps back in but you have to restart somewhere!)

Alexander ( the Great that is!) reached there and founded a city or two ( in Greek of course).

The ancient Greek city of Ai-Khanoum in Afghanistan was discovered by accident in the 1960s, but its demise has captivated historians and archaeologists for decades. The city that was lost under the desert sands for almost two thousand years was founded by one of Alexander the Great's successors, Seleucus I Nicator. - they say it was founded for nicator

sorry sorry sprry

I'd prefer a pipe of port.

You mean 'my' answer to that, of course.

I was thinking more of an agent provocateur selling you some and then denouncing you.

Definitely not. To either.I wouldn't want to witness what will become of the UK eventually and I do not take drugs for recreation and never will.

Alcohol excepted.
