As with any and all religions, those in power cherry pick the bits that they can twist into control of the faithful, in ways that perpetuates the power and control of the leadership.

I made no 'comparison' of Catholicism and Islam whatsoever, you are perhaps encouraged by naomi's failed attempts to sidetrack the thread with that argument as well.
What I said was, Catholicism, and indeed any organised religion on the planet, is under the direction and control of men, to the detriment of women.
Once again, of you can see a defence of Islam in that, then you are clearly keener to look for a fight than you are to simply accept a basic point, which does not defend Islam in any way shape or form.
Perlease, as you well know AH you don't have to say it directly but your defense of Islam is becomming a standard feature. This time it takes the form of trying to merge their mysogyny with other religions. I can't help feeling that this kind of devotion is based on some form of personal affiliation. Is there any sort of connection you'd like to tell us about?

If you want to see something in my posts that is simply not there, I can't help you with that.

If you want to see something else, and attribute an attitude that is in your imagination, then that is a matter for you and you alone, there is no point in me continuing to argue with you.
If anyone else wishes to comment on my posts, I will be delighted to debate with them, but as far as I am concerned, this exchange is redundant, and I propose taking no further part in it.

I clearly do debate, regularly, but there is no point in carrying on an exchange with TTT when he remains determined to miss the point I made, and turn into a point I did not make.
That's not debate, which is why I am not inclind to pursue it much further.

I think Arab culture with regard to women, enmeshed as it is in the texts and beliefs of Islam, means that repression suits the majority of men in Arabic and Islamic countries.
The Mullahs simply perpetuate and enhance this attitude, because it continues to enable, and extend, their power.
