Outside of sport, it's also served to draw attention to the amount of 💩 being poured into the Thames. It probably won't make a jot of difference to the amount of waste being ditched into our waterways, but at least it's opened a few eyes.

I just googled to find the estimated crowd for the boat race and the answer was about 300,000 people were expected to turn up on the banks of the Thames to watch it. How many other events, free or not, have so many spectators attending.
