..trying to call large corporations and/or government departments.

How much of your life have you spent on hold (because your call is important to them) but not important enough for them to answer?

5 hours for me today, 😴😢 😠

That is shocking lozzy I also hate the wait. Why long ago you phoned up engaged ....phone back why now you are in a queue you are number ???? on the list. You have to wait as to call back well!!!

My record, spread across three days, was around 16 hours in total, trying to get hold of someone at the Department of Work & Pensions.

I once called my local GP's surgery (which, to be fair, isn't usually that difficult to get through to) to be told that I was number forty-something in the queue.  I held on all afternoon until, at around 5.30pm, I was told that I was at last number one in the queue.  It wasn't until 6.30pm, when I was still number one in the queue, that I realised that the reception staff must have all gone home, leaving my call unanswered!

Translation of "Your call is important to us":

We're not interested in you, so hang up and leave us alone.

Psychological cruelty!

At last my hospital trust has a call back service so if you don't want to keep waiting on the phone, your place in the queue is held (I don't know how) and they call you back when it's your turn.   I wish every company did this

DWP always seem to keep me waiting exactly 1 hour and 46 minutes regardless of day or time that I call them.

I Always fight the temptation when finally connected to say can you hang on for a few moments, I have hung on so long I really need a wee!...

So when they call you back Barry is it when you're sleeping, on the toilet, or eating?

It's always when you don't have the information at hand that they need.🤔
