Before We Post Or Answer A Post Should We

Say, ( Thank you for having me) its seems to be the in thing now on TV when someone is invited to give their opinion or to be interviewed. Do you think it would work well on AB. Example, thank you for having me gully. <:)

Well, i'm delighted to be here but I have to agree that it wouldn't work on AB.

For starters, saying something pleasant could prove fatal to some other people on here.

I see gulliver has to turn any post into a I hate Boris one even when it has nothing to do with him.  To your thread I dislike it when comedians are introduced on shows by their name then at the end they say " thank you for having me and I have been whatever their name is", you already know their name as they were introduced by it.

I was always taught to say," Thank you gentlemen ( or ladies and gentlemen) for giving me some of your time" if I had eyeball contact after a interview or medical procedure bit I'm damned if I will say that on a site to a person I cannot see or know.

It is quite nice to see a bit of politeness and appreciation (in advance) when posing a question or requesting help with a crossword or quiz. More likely to get a favourable response. 

Conversely if there is a negative feeling, the response is likely to be in the same vein  -  or downright rude. 

I don't see AB as a forum for sounding off one's views. Its use, as I see ti,  is surely for quizzes, crosswords and consumer-type queries.

I think it's just a polite sign-off line. When I get off a bus I thank the driver and he thanks me for travelling with him.

I always think of my grandma when presenters sign-off with "See you tomorrow"; I don't think they can see me but my grandma, to whom TV was a very new invention, did and she worried about me getting undressed for bed in front of the fire in full view of the TV.

I had to laugh last week Piers Morgan and his guest ( forgot who it was) but it was to do with the war in Gaza. They nearly came to punching each others lights out, and at the end PM said thank you for coming on, the guest, thank you for having me. It was almost as if they had been told to say it. <:0))
