Last duty before Christmas, down to London to visit mother and deliver presents.  At least have been able to book an accessible room in hotel.  Back tomorrow then it's the slow slide into the weekend

Morning all

3 colds already ? Fingers crossed I'm.ok but wait until after a Xmas when the residents return to the island after xmas and bring all sorts back with them. We go down like nine pins!

Going to look for a new mobile phone today!

Have a good day!

Morning all, not been on this thread for quite a while.  Hope all your sniffles go in time for Christmas.  Think I am getting dragged to a garden centre today.  On the plus side the restaurant there is good.

Rowan - we went over in October and won't go until March - and we do not feel guilty at all!!

Neti - I rarely get colds and this year has been awful for me - seriously it was so bad I ended up off work!!

Shed - good to see you - hope you are keeping well - I love a wonder around the garden centre - its so peaceful

Morning everyone! Oh no Red, that's not good. Mind you I've had several colds too, tho none of them too bad. Today was meant to be me posting the last Xmas cards/parcels in time for Xmas day, but 3 things haven't arrived! So have been deliberating whether to post what I've got and explain the other will follow (one missing present in each families parcel), or hold on and pray the missing ones arrive by tomorrow &post the lot together x

Smow - given that your family can't be bothered to see you when you have been as ill as you have been - I would just send what you have - and keep the rest for their birthdays

You're probably right Red. Tho my daughter has now started messaging regularly, and my youngest(who is the only one who visits ) I am now going to see over New Year, which will be wonderful.  I was reading an article this morning about a couple who decided this year that they aren't going to buy ANY Xmas presents for anyone, and don't want anyone to buy for them either. Says we all just buy each other stuff that we don't really need. I can see what she means sometimes lol.

we keep it to a minimum for both families, we send a hamper to his mother - normally a french cheese one or similar, a hamper to his brother and gift cards to their children.

My stepmum loves art - so when she was with us on Islay she was admiring a local photographers work and 1 picture in particular - so i bought that for her and a couple of glasses.  My stepbrother has just gone through a very messy break up so I bought him a snuggle blanket and some chocolate and sented candles.

I'm very lucky that my stepfamily are just so lovely that its a pleasure to buy for them

Ahh that's lovely Red. We buy for his parents, who are wonderful, my 4 children/families, and each other.

Sorry Red, I missed your post somehow.
