Absolutely crazy webbo
Well done RAF
Makes no odds.

The idea of sending more than half a dozen migrants there is a complete non-starter. The island has around 800 residents and none of them have the "right of abode" there. There is next to no infrastructure, no significant hotels or other transient accommodation. Medical facilities are extremely limited: there is a small hospital which can only deal with minor ailments. There are two doctors, a dentist and a midwife.

Any accommodation required to house migrants would have to be constructed from scratch and with the only realistic communication being an RAF flight from Brize Norton, the logistical problems of such a project would be enormous, as would the cost.

It seems like an idea that a drunken Minister and his Permanent Secretary had jokingly discussed at the end of a boozy dinner.
An RAF spokesman may say, "we will refuse to fly them to designated locations, but we will happily bomb the bhastards".

One way of dealing with the problem is for people like five leaves to step up to the plate and offer to take 2 migrants in their home , that would maybe put a dent in the problem?
send them to the Falklands but then they may pledge their allegiance to the Argies - but, for the interim, house them with the Pengies ......plenty of nests down there.
Well, if that is really so, the solution is to commandeer the RAF bases for use as illegal immigrant camps until an alternative solution to getting them to Ascension Island can be found.
//...until an alternative solution to getting them to Ascension Island can be found.//

Please read my earlier post, OG. Accommodating migrants on Ascension is an absolute non-starter. Providing accommodation for even a small number would take ages and consume vast sums of cash. A report I read today suggests the cost could be around £1m per migrant for a very modest number (and no more than a modest number could be catered for). The ongoing costs of maintaining a facility there would make the current hotel bill seem like a bargain.

It really does sound like a joke cobbled together over an excessive amount of alcohol.

Or 'government policy' as it's been known for decades.
Useless articles voted in by lunatics to wreak havoc until they get booted up to the Lords for managing to stay out of jail in the interim.
At the going rate of 120 mil to take asylum seekers, works out at around £150k per resident – if I was an islander I’d vote for it.
The people living on Ascension do not have the "right of abode" and are only there with the UK government's permission. If they start demanding money I imagine that permission would be rescinded.
nope - they are saying they would not obey if it is given
PLEASE read reports carefully

( and the usual suspects pile in regardless, do I see Mystic Meg and Charlie Chester, having a go?)

Has happened previously - and er nothing happened
After Dresden got flattened - and the RAF said this is not a war aim we wont do it again......er 1945 that is!
there was huffing and puffing and it was put down to opinion and future aspirations.
( and the RAF big wigs who were flying desks went on shuffling papers)

end of as TTT ( bless!) wd say
It's just some liberal 'insider' raking up trouble.

Even if Ascension Island was a starter, which it isnt, the RAF would receive an official request via the Ministry of Defence. If they refused then heads would roll one way or another.
The "RAF insider" and other similar expressions are a very easy way to insert lies into an article without any repercussions.
click bait nonsense for the gullible, the RAF will do what they are told, end of.
Is there a particular reason that plans to deal with illegal immigrants are modelled on the grand, elaborate schemes of Bond villains?

Camps, cattle prods, growing a spine and instant repatriation of invaders when it all gets too much for them are what's needed.

George V messaged gratefully: you go without a stain on your characters
oo-er your majesty !

and no one on AB is talking about it, because we er dont talk about it
// government source warned: "The RAF will want nothing to do with it.” Routine deportation flights arranged by the Home Office are operated by private charter planes because they are much cheaper than RAF aircraft. "The Home Office normally charters private planes because we are quite expensive,” an RAF source told The Times. “We also have other priorities, such as Ukraine.” //

No migrants are going to Ascension. And if they were, the RAF would not be asked to provide transport.
