I have the pleasure of joining up with my brave colleagues each September. Most are serving PSNI officers and some are former RUC retired officers. When off duty in NI they all, including the retired officers are permitted to carry one or two firearms for protection of them selves and their family when they go shopping or attending mass in the province. In fact any where they go in N.I. They have to surrender their necessary protection when they attend our meet on this mainland every year.
I don't believe any one here would feel threatened when accompanying their wife to mass or the local Lidls without having protection available to them.
To say the peace process has succeeded is laughable and a delusion.

Retreocop - As an ex-policeman, and therefore someone who can be seen as having been an active part of 'The Troubles' by the indigenous population, and being permitted to carry a gun when you are in the area, hardly makes you a typical citizen living there day to day.

The ladies of Afghanistan were complaining tonight on the ITV News at Ten that they were met with Water Cannon, Tasers and live rounds fired over their heads because they meet in beauty salons which have now been banned under Taliban rule. I have to wonder why they need beauty treatment when they are forced to cover up their visage with hideous clothing .
