It's one of those films that I thought I'd seen before, but a few weeks ago it was on a BBC channel (no adverts!) and as I had nothing else to do, I decided to sit and watch it from the start. I quickly realised I hadn't seen most of it at all. Really enjoyed it, no wonder it's a classic.

It's one of those films that has classic lines that people quote not even knowing where they originate. I remember when I first watched it thinking ah that's where that comes from! Did you know, he never said "play it again Sam"?

It's Ilsa that asks Sam to play it.

… and later Rick says “you played it for her, play it for me, Sam, play ‘as time goes by’” - or something like that
