my vote was for Helen - it was that African dance that Hamza pulled plus his costume that won it for him....the judges ignored the fact that he was 4th after the first two rounds and I don't think he hustified closing the 3 point gap plus 1.
I saw a comment in the press that the BBC were pushing for Hamza to win as he will be the new Attenborough. I don't trust the telephone voting system and nor do I trust the BBC these days. How times have changed :(
Nice chap and all that, very graceful for a big man, but very flat footed, he certainly was not the best dancer, popular yes, best dancer no, Helen was a clear winner in my eyes, its all about the journey, getting a rough piece of stone and turning it into a diamond, in my opinion she was robbed!!
Why are we never told how many people voted and the percentage of votes each contestant got? Stinks
Indeed it does. goodgoalie. It used to be that part of the revenue from the voting system went to charity (Children in Need, I recall). Then one year there was a big problem with the vote counting and the BBC decided to reduce the cost per phone vote and no longer publicised the actual number of votes each couple got and CiN lost out.
When you look at the four finalists, Hamza was by far the least likely you'd expect to be a good dancer, and that combined with the fact that he seems like a nice guy and the kids love him, is probably why he won.

It's quite common that the winner doesn't score the most points on the night, just as it's quite common through the contest that those in the bottom two didn't score the least. In the end it's a popularity contest first and judging comes second.
Helen and Hansa were obviously the best, for different reasons. Molly was good, but we found Fleur to have a very awkward gait and head position, and clumpy. We thought she was marked too high throughout the competition. She was in no way graceful where grace was needed.
Hansa is just so loveable!
