i'd like to know how he gets it free?
use a neighbour's unsecured router?
Next door, lol.
His mummy and daddy pay the bills?
Use of the internet on my Kindle Keyboard has not cost me a penny since I originally bought it. I reckon that's free internet.
people who think they don't pay usually pay a lot more.
etch, how does your kindle connect to the internet? or does it use 3/4/5g directly?
He could work for them?
Our neighbour works from home for Sky , they get free WiFi and the full sky package as a perk
On his mobilephone or in the home because dends where really there is unlimited data packages that are available via simonly and other contracts but nothing is actually free in this life there will be some kind of payment somewhere
Do you believe everything he tells you?
your pal is telling fibs - nothing is free in this life - not even compassion
Etch, I'd like to know how your Kindle connects to the internet, too. Mine connects to my home WiFi or my phone hotspot if I'm away from home.
ToraToraTora, my Kindle Keyboard is the 3G version, so connects directly (not via WiFi). I must admit that it fails to cope with a lot of sites now (AnswerBank being one) but it's still 'free internet'.
So Amazon has paid for your data? Fab. Sadly, 3G will stop working soon so I hope your Kindle is the later version that also has 4G
barry1010, I bought the Kindle in 2012 to use when travelling abroad, for the reasons given in this article ('free internet' is covered under The Clincher, about halfway down the page):
https://toomanyadapters.com/keyboard-3g-the-best-kindle-for-travel/
It has served me well in that capacity but is struggling now and the removal of support for 3G (no 4G) may be the kiss of death.
Etch, well I assume amazon is tolerating your usage for now.
Amazon can't stop the big 3G switch off which is happening worldwide over the coming months.
Etch, you've had good service out of it and it will still be a good eReader after the 3G switch off. You will just have to download your books by connecting it to your PC or laptop
barry1010, I know - by 'kiss of death' I only meant for internet browsing. On it I have the user manuals for various items, in PDF form copied from PC, for reference when away from home.
I have a Kobo and a Kindle but I much preferred the Sony eReader, Etch.
I wouldn't be without them
