I went shopping today. I had my mask on and also leather gloves because I feel the cold. I went into a shop and was asked to sanitise my hands. I explained that I had got gloves on, and the assistant said I should take my gloves off, sanitise my hands and put my gloves back on. I felt totally confused. I suggested that sanitise my gloves while I had them on, but was told that wasn’t an option. Any thoughts please? I left the shop quietly as I didn’t want to have an argument.
I haven’t been out much as I’ve just turned 80 so have been very careful. What should I have done.
Perhaps the surliness of people working in bargain stores reflects the surly attitude of customers who take umbrage at being asked to do a simple thing like sanitising their hands ie, it's the customers that are thick and rude not the shop staff.
Realistically, I haven't read the thread yet- it makes most sense to take gloves off, sanitise your hands and not put the gloves back on until you leave.
I don't find it respectful. Respectful would being doing what you're asked as it's most likely their policy at the moment. The assistants probably hate asking people to do it.
iluvmargie - I didn't say hellywelly made a fuss; I agreed with Zacs that simply walking out of the shop without making a fuss was perfectly acceptable. If my wording implied that helly did make a fuss I apologize, I was simply pointing out that some people do, which I consider to be rude and unnecessary.
