Far better than a carp deal. The French and Spanish are pirates of the sea with no regard for fish stocks. They just hoover up anthing. Just look in the fish markets in France and Spain. Small fish and crustaceans that should never be landed. The French just shrug and tell you it's a good size for bouillabaise. They even grade the huitrs. The small size should...

This sounds awfully acrimonious from Mr Macron!
The new Napoleon?
(When he looks in the mirror.)
Allen 15 54,"Careful what you wish for" spot on !
Think maybe about Easter next year This lot will be having a few regrets. I can see hardship ahead.
...and we all know how Napoleon ended up. Macron will get a similar comeuppance.
And we all know how Jack ended up ,when he tried to climb the Hill.
Brexit has worked. We're out. Whatever gives anyone the idea that it hasn't ?

Macron is clearly an idiot. The French made a major error voting him in. He fought for and got his no-deal agreement; and now he's in it up to his neck. Why he was so desperate to ensure that the French fishing industry received no licence to fish in UK waters, is anyone's guess. He can now be sidelined and ignored. He's played his part.
Boris has now really got to toughen this one out. I am confident that we will emerge the victors.
That should be a given. Worst case we're free with WTO rules for those yet to agree a deal. Which isn't ideal but it's fine. We can build from there. Best case the EU gets a conversion on the road to WTO trading and opts to drop all their unacceptable demands.
Mini Manni is staring into the abyss of ignominy.

""EMMANUEL MACRON is playing hardball with the UK over fisheries due to catastrophic polling in France, which shows his popularity plunging and a growing French perception that the UK has the upper hand in the Brexit talks.
Emmanuel Macron is under “huge pressure” not to give into the UK on fisheries, following catastrophic domestic polling on his performance as French leader. Sky News’ deputy political editor Sam Coates analysed recent polling which showed French President’s popularity plunging among voters in France.""

Meanwhile one of his detractors at home ...

//FREXIT champion Charles-Henri Gallois warned the EU France will be leaving the bloc after the UK makes a success of Brexit.
Generation Frexit director Charles-Henri Gallois insisted France could be leaving the EU soon. During an interview with Express.co.uk, Mr Gallois claimed the sovereignist movement will continue to grow in France if the UK has a successful Brexit future. ""
""“I don’t think Brexit will help all the eurocrats across the continent.
“If Brexit is a success, as I am sure that it will be, it will give ideas to other people and countries to leave the suppressing political structure.”""

Catch a falling Star and put it in your pocket.

When it comes to fisheries, all Boris has to do is say what De Gaulle said to Britain in 1963 - 'Non'.
Good to see there are still some sensible French about who recognise the EU for the massive con that it is.
There are plenty of French who dislike the EU (and also Macron ) intensely, Jackdaw. Almost everyone we knew in fact, but that was France Profonde and, same as here, there is a city/country divide.
France was all set to reject joining the EEC (I think it was called that then, bit hazy, may have been later and called something else) until the votes came in from the departements outre-mers and that gave just a half a percent victory to joiners. I do remember that everyone moaned about it, again and again.

We all know that Macron only won because he wasn't either of the other candidates - and France does like to go on appearance (until someone like Sarkozy crosses the line into bling). He is in very deep erm, there must be a polite word, trouble. It is a deeply divided society. He thinks there is political capital to be made out of defending French fishermen etc..

Our politicians must, simply must tough it out. Very disturbed by Gove today talking about door being ajar. I wouldn't actually be hugely surprised if a big Frexit movement emerged - France is everything to most French, who have never travelled outside its boundaries - seriously.
That is true, jourdain. From my knowledge the vast majority of French spend their holidays in France and don't go abroad. Of course, as you say, France is a huge country and there is a world of difference between, say, Paris and La France Profonde.
The simple fact that the so called democracy of the EU is a poor joke, is enough to put me off.
Can anybody tell me why they would be a Remainer given the joke of this democracy?
(Secret ballots for a single candidate? Crazy!)
After Macron is booted out, as he surely will be, he can retire & write a memoir; 'How to seduce your schoolteacher'. Invaluable reading for all 15 year old boys.
