... etc - my neighbour has just given me 100 AA batteries (branded ones), that he couldn’t use. No more huffing and puffing because the rechargeable ones haven’t been charged (used in Xbox controllers and computer mice) :)
I gave up on rechargeables a while ago (apart from dedicated ones in permanently docked things like landline phone handsets).
They are short-lived, feeble in output and much worse for the environment than standard alkaline batteries both to produce and dispose of - I just buy an occasional box of AAs or AAAs from Amazon and that lasts me for ages and avoids endless faffing.
We go through a lot of batteries so we (I mean I) just keep endlessly re-charging the ageing supply of re-chargeable ones that are on their last legs. This little haul should keep the kids happy for some time.
If they're decent alkaline batts witha long shelf-life....fine.
If they're cheapo zinc-carbon with a "best before 2018"....not so fine.
(I find that the latest top-brand rechargeables are very good and use them whenever I can).
