Boy #1 has been invited to stand for one of the positions on the paramedic society’s committee at his university. He’s one of only two first year students who have been invited (the rest being the second year students). I have no idea what the paramedic society does but he must have made a good impression somewhere.

Well done him - sounds like a useful person to have around.
Congratulations to Boy #1! I hope that you gave him a pat on the back!
That will boost his confidence no end, well done to him.x
When he gets on to the committee, he should encourage them to update their website. The committee details are out of date and the Facebook link goes to the Sunderland Paramedic Society!
https://www.thestudentsunion.co.uk/soc/paramedics/

(The correct Facebook link is here but that needs some recent input too! https://en-gb.facebook.com/uweparamedicsociety/ )

However, unless things have changed a lot since my day, I thought the purpose of ALL student union societies was to provide an excuse for getting p$shed!
Well done, Boy #1 :-)
Nice one Sherrard and congrats to him :o))
PS: I've just remembered that I got elected onto the committee of the local branch of the Mathematical Association during my first year at college. I ended up a few years later helping to organise the Association's national conference and then representing the Association at an international conference in Adelaide.

Your son might well be onto a good thing, I reckon!

Thanks all :)

Buenchico, it seems to have changed a lot - he very rarely goes to a pub, preferring the gym or library and he spends ages writing his essays and revising (he did not get those traits from me or his dad).
Revising? Er, what's that?

;-)
Proud Mummy, again..
Well done to your son. He obviously got his head screwed on right! :-)
well done
enthusiasm and ability to communicate would do the bill

they run about doing first aid and attending bomb sites when the official services who should be doing this say it is too dangerous (and run away)
He's doing well, your lad. Good for him!
Trying to remember answers parrot fashion.
Boy #1 : "I'd like to bring up the issue with our website. The committee details are out of date and the Facebook link goes to the Sunderland Paramedic Society!"

Paramedic Society’s Committee : "Well volunteered that student. Your job while you are here."
Well done to your son Sher, he is a credit to you.
well done boy1
All I can suggest is he must have been raised to be a confident lad who can get on with people. Well done parent(s)
