I've not read the thread, but I know from experience it can be quite antagonistic for multiple members at a time to bombard you with mockery and snide.
Spath if you haven't read the thread then why have you replied to it many times or is it to do a bit of stirring.
DAVEBRO, "I cannot play the guitar" is different from "I can not play the guitar."
In the first, I am not able to play at all, in the second, the implication is I can but choose not to.
having a degree is no indicator of intelligence most of them are mickey mouse non subjects these days anyway. There are lots of bright people without a degree and similar amount of thickos with a degree. What's your degree in diddly? what grade did you get? Attilla? Desmond? Jeff?
you've just blown their tiny minds with that one TCL!

Diddlydo - "Only you mentioned "thats" and "that's", not I."

Sigh.

At 4.21pm yesterday Gulliver used "thats" when he should have used "that's".

Therefore, I drew the entirely reasonable comparison between you thinking getting "its" and "it's" wrong as an indicator of a lack of "Brainpower" must be the same as getting "thats" and "that's" wrong.

Anyway, this has run its course for me - I will retire with the comfort that Gulliver, by your own definition, lacks "Brainpower", and that Gulliver has been well and truly made to look a fool by NJ.
I blame Alexandre Dumas .....
DD, valiant attempt, but you cannot reason when there is little intellect to reason with.

I cannot play the guitar because it has broken strings.

I can not play the guitar because it has broken strings.

What's the diff?

PS. I can't play the guitar (but I do have one!).
