I am inclined to think it's more of a publicity stunt than a reaction to a deeply embedded trauma.
17.31 , Lcg How nice to know that you and I have the same sense of humour , cheers.
American/Canadian term "mom".

''mom'' isn't just an American/Canadian term. It's a term that used in my area ( and we are a very long way from America/ Canada ).
Society doesn't bother protecting those unable to stop themselves indulging in self harm, it seems.
Lock it away in a cave.
One good thing though, if it's genderless it can't breed.
People feel varying needs to affirm themselves to others, and that affirmation takes various forms.

For some, it's tattoos or plastic surgery, for most, it's just dressing nicely and trying to look good.

For some, and I believe this is a case in point, the feeling of inadequacy and lack of impact on the world at large is so intense that it is met with seriously out-there action in terms of creating that vital attention.

This is probably just about the apex of addressing that need, but if the individual feels better for it, it's not for us to judge.
Tonyav, at 2015, I didn't realize that.
It's "mom" in Birmingham and the Black Country, Sanmac.
It is for us to judge AH. Like it or not we are judged by our peers. We in turn judge others. and the world turns.
Not so much judging, more analysing the situation.

I don't agree.

I try really hard on a daily basis not to be judgemental of others.

Being human, I don't always succeed, but I do try, because I think judging others infers a belief in a superior mindset, which is rarely justified.

Ironic ^^ imho.

Good grief. Send an ambulance. I think I've just bust a gut laughing at the last post.

Dear AH
Your judgement yesterday was hardly justified and infers a belief in your own superior mindset I was not inebriated and your constant superior mindset is frequently pushed in front of the rubbish you post.
Happens that a learned judge stated in Law that the only statement a Police Officer can give,in evidence, as a statement of fact and as an expert witness is the sobriety of a defendant at the time of arrest.
Apparently I qualify to accuse those who are drunk when certain evidence presents it to me face to face. You, over the internet,
are not!!!!!! So shove your snide name calling.
;-)
"I try really hard on a daily basis not to be judgemental of others." Hah! One of the most hypocritical statements I have ever read by the a. h.
All humans judge, assess and analyse things constantly. Anyone who thinks they don't is kidding themselves.
The difference is "pre" judgement and how you treat people in real life.
One judges others, as one also judges oneself. No one is perfect ... well ... shan't state the obvious. I'd agree that it's how you treat others that's important rather than your view of them.
//If they’re genderless, how can they be a ‘girl’friend?//

By self-identifying. It’s all the rage now don’tcha know?! It could be a boyfriend tomorrow - and an ‘it’ again the next day.

Judgmental? I think it’s a weirdo.
