(sought of)
Currently decorating my sons/girlfriends new flat.
In the hallway they currently have a baton with 4 coat hangers on it. One of the hangers is snapped/broke. I wanted to replace all hangers but try as I might I cannot unscrew the hangers. The screws have obviously been painted over, over the years so I have tried burning out the paint, chipping out the paint etc but when I get down to the actual screw it just wont budge. I have tried loosening them with a claw hammer, trying to get a bit of leverage between the screw and the baton etc but to no avail.
Has anyone here any idea how to unscrew a really tight screw?

(never had this problem before)

I don't know about a screw but I can spot a slew when I see one.

Stop twisting things!

Whats a slew?
Im not twisting anything!
A genuine question....
Why can't you play nicely?
A slew is not a screw.
heat may help..blow torch..soldering iron ? don't think Tilly is referring to you nailit....
slew..to turn on an axis
Thanks for understanding, Minty. x
/slew..to turn on an axis/ did Hitler or Mussolini come up with that term?
whatever, they were eventually 'screwed'......
Drill the heads off the screws.
Do you want to save the baton? If not just chisel around the screw (into the baton) until the screw sticks out proud and use mole grips round the head of the screw and gently twist anti-clockwise

Slew/screw
Think that I need an early night.
Perhaps reading into things that arnt there. Been decorating since 7 this morning (up since 5)....perhaps the paint fumes are addling my brain!!!
Thanks for replies, much appreciated!
Have you considered taking the whole thing off and putting up a new one?
If the shaft of the driver is square use a spanner on it.
I'd lever the whole thing off and put up a new one.
Have you got that screw loose yet?

Or just drill 'em out & repair the wall after.
