I thought l knew what I was doing in regards to my holiday bookings just shows how wrong I was,i got a quote from mercury for hotel only in pathos ,it was half board ,so I thought I will be clever and deal directly with the hotel only to be quoted £567 more than mercury price and for bed and breakfast rather than half board ,thought I would pass this to anyone interested
Jordy - if unsure and for the sake of £25 (it was then when I last travelled) travel agent can book it easy enough and perhaps get you a cheap enough holiday
A couple of months ago I booked a week break for two in Barcelona.
I obtained a total price for the flights & hotel I wanted via Expedia.
I checked the price of flights alone and booking direct with the hotel, to find there was very little difference in the totals – but booking direct with the hotel was on a B&B basis, with Expedia it was for the room only.
So it’s always worth pricing various options to get the best deal.
I’ve probably taken half a dozen or more holidays with Mercury – their prices are very hard to beat.
One of my best deals was a three-week stay for two at the 5 star Intercontinental in Malta (on a B&B basis) including flights for around £1,500 (total, not per person).
Not forgetting that the Mercury holidays include transfers – whereas booking with Expedia you’re on your own (getting from the airport to the hotel and back).
